The Sadr region, IC 1318, is the busy neighborhood round the mag 2.2 star Sadr or gamma Cygni. It is a large expanse of nebulosity with dominant Ha emission nebulae and various dark nebulae. The Crescent Nebula (in the lower left cover of the image) is embedded into the region.
This is one of my first attempt at combining Ha data with a relatively short RGB exposures for the stars. There was some problem with the blue channel (bloated stars), therefore the RGB data its not great. I am also fighting with the color for the Ha component – a pure RGB red looks somehow wrong, so I mixed a little Ha data into the blue channel in addition. Definitely leaves room for improvement.
Using my wide-field setup with the Asahi/Pentax Takumar 135mm f/2.5 with the ATIK 460EXm. Make sure to look at this image full-size.
